During the December months, La Canette opens a second restaurant opposite, Le Refuge d’en Face. La Canette is our top favorite in Durbuy, so a winter pop-up version of it can only be even better.
And yes, Le Refuge d’en Face is a kind of chalet that is even cozier if possible, with lots of wood, sheepskins, reindeer, old ski photos, in short, you imagine yourself at the top of Mont Blanc. Here too, the menu is limited but to die for. This time I opted for the pate of venison as a starter (which came with ginger and jelly, top combo), my table companion went for a simple but very tasty plate of semi-smoked salmon. Then we went together for the raclette with a matching bottle of wine. Without a doubt and without exaggeration: the tastiest raclette we’ve ever eaten, and really an ideal ending to a day at the Christmas market!
Do you want to book yourself at La Canette or Le Refuge d’en Face? You can consult the menu via the website of La Canette, and you can also go there for reservations. During the weekends a reservation is necessary if you want to be sure of a spot, and during the Christmas market people even work in two “shifts” and you even have to make a reservation on a weekday.
