We waited a long time to review Marc Coucke’s concepts in Durbuy. First and foremost because they seem to change so quickly. Desirée seemed to be done with waffles after a year (which we really think is a shame, we actually miss a good pancake or waffle in Durbuy!) and the Moulin was renamed “Folies Moulin” after less than half a year. The luxury chip shop was also taken down after one season and now serves as a sales office for the activities of Adventure Valley.

Restaurant Wagyu Grill was one of Marc Coucke’s first concepts and seems to have been going strong for a while now. The space is nice but exudes an expensive design agency rather than a real soul and individuality. The food is absolutely qualitative, but SO expensive that it is no longer fun. At first glance the price seems on the high side but still acceptable (e.g. half a chicken at EUR 22 or EUR 35 for a filet pur) but then a supplement is charged for literally everything: fries? EUR 5! Sauce? EUR 5! Mixed salad? You guessed it: EUR 5!

For a simple lunch with a single main course, you will easily exceed EUR 50 per person. If you are looking for a simple but very tasty and well-executed cuisine for a fair price, we can absolutely recommend La Canette. The service is also much more friendlier there.
